Year Councils (Bachelor & Master)

Students providing feedback on ongoing educational matters

Bachelor

Each year group in the Bachelor program has a Year Council. They meet six times a year with the Commissioner of Education and staff from the education institute. This meeting is called the Bachelor Student Meeting. The Year Councils critically assess the education and mainly provide feedback on ongoing courses to address potential issues. These can include things like “the lecturer is unclear” or “the slides aren’t uploaded.” You can suggest a topic for discussion via your year’s representative.

Info: Bachelor Student Meeting. Here, you can also find out who represents your year in the meetings.

Master

There is also a Year Council for the Master’s program where direct feedback is gathered from students regarding the organization and quality of the education. The council consists mostly of first-year Master students, with some continuity into the second year. Students participating in the Master Year Council come from various specializations within the BME and ME Master programs.

Info: Master Year Council. Here, you can also see who participates from your year.

Program Committee (OC)

Advisory body of the faculty on educational matters

The BME/MWTE education program is very dynamic. To ensure that the structure of education within the faculty always receives enough attention, a Program Committee (OC) has been established. This committee consists of students, lecturers, the Program Director, academic advisors, and Education Coordinators. The Commissioner of Education is also a member of this committee, as they contribute valuable input from the student meetings. The Program Committee is responsible for:

  • Advising on the Education and Examination Regulations (OER)
  • Annually evaluating the implementation of the OER
  • Providing both solicited and unsolicited advice to the Faculty and Program Boards on all educational matters

Info: Program Committee. This page also shows the current committee members.

Departmental Council (FR)

Faculty advisory body on educational matters

The Departmental Council has advisory and approval rights concerning decisions made by the Faculty Board. The council consists of both staff and students within the faculty and is a derivative of the University Council (UR). It focuses on matters specific to the faculty, for which the Executive Board has delegated authority to the Faculty Board. These include policy on education, research, decision-making, and budgeting.

Info: Departmental Council

The Departmental Council is looking for new members!

For the upcoming year, the council is seeking new, enthusiastic students. As a member, you represent your fellow BME/MWTE students to the Faculty Board. The council consists of 5 student members and 5 staff members. Our responsibilities include advising the Faculty Board and approving the Faculty Regulations and OER.
If you're interested in joining, you can sign up via email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). If you have any questions or want to sit in on a meeting first, feel free to ask!

Examination Committee

Responsible for administering and coordinating exams and assessments

The Examination Committee is an important body within the program, handling the following matters:

  • Changing a student’s standard study program
  • Deciding on requests to deviate from certain regulations
  • Deciding on exemption requests
  • Determining the result of an examination
  • Maintaining order during exams and preventing fraud
  • Establishing the examination timetable

You can also contact the Examination Committee if you are dissatisfied with an assessment or specific regulation. In such cases, you may file an appeal with the committee. If you disagree with their response, you can appeal to the Examination Appeals Board. The Student Service Center (STU) can provide further information.
