Biomedical Engineering

The bachelor's program consists of two majors: Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences & Technology. Biomedical Engineering focuses on using technological methods to solve biomedical issues. To achieve this, analysis and synthesis methods from physics and chemistry are used, along with calculation methods from mathematics, modeling methods from mechanical engineering, measurement and control systems from electrical engineering, and programming methods from computer science. Finally, knowledge of the human body from biology is utilized.

The major Medical Sciences & Technology utilizes extensive knowledge within the (bio)medical scientific field to understand processes within the body. In combination with technological expertise, this forms the basis for developing new treatment methods.

After the three-year bachelor's, students are capable of solving problems in an engineering-like manner: complex issues are translated into simple solutions using a realistic approach.

Master

After the bachelor's, students choose a two-year master's program in Biomedical Engineering (BME) or Medical Engineering (ME). The master's in Biomedical Engineering is highly research-oriented. The focus is on developing general solutions for specific (bio)medical problems; for example, developing an artificial kidney for dialysis patients. The master's in Medical Engineering focuses more on patient-oriented interpretation, development, and the application of surgical techniques and computer simulations to support clinical decision-making.

Collaboration

Protagoras offers students the opportunity to connect with interesting companies in an accessible way. Consequently, the association plays a vital role in their orientation towards the labor market. We are therefore always open to valuable collaborations with the business community, aiming for long-term relationships that provide added value for both parties.

We offer various opportunities to increase your company's visibility among our students. In return, we ask for a financial contribution, which supports the functioning of the association.

Because we believe in a broad and effective approach, we work with different levels of partnership. Each level consists of a combination of activities that align with your company's objectives. This integrated approach generally yields more brand awareness than individual actions and is offered at a reduced rate compared to separate options.

If you are not interested in a full partnership, it is of course also possible to choose individual activities or promotional options. Whether you choose a full partnership or a separate collaboration: every package is put together in consultation! In this way, we ensure that the offer matches the wishes and goals of both parties.
