The Study Program

The bachelor’s program consists of two majors: Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences & Technology. Biomedical Engineering focuses on applying technological methods to solve biomedical challenges. This includes analytical and synthesis methods from physics and chemistry, computational techniques from mathematics, modelling approaches from mechanical engineering, measurement and control systems from electrical engineering, and programming methods from computer science. Naturally, knowledge of the human body from biology is also essential.

The Medical Sciences & Technology major uses extensive knowledge from the (bio)medical sciences to understand processes within the human body. Combined with technological expertise, this forms the foundation for developing new treatment methods.

After completing the three-year bachelor’s program, students are able to approach problems from an engineering perspective: complex challenges are translated into practical and realistic solutions.

Master’s Programs

After the bachelor’s program, students continue with a two-year master’s degree in either Biomedical Engineering (BME) or Medical Engineering (ME).

The Biomedical Engineering master’s is strongly research-oriented, focusing on developing general solutions for biomedical problems—for example, designing an artificial kidney for patients.

The Medical Engineering master’s focuses more on patient-centered applications, including the development and use of surgical techniques and computer simulations to support clinical decision-making.

Because we believe in a broad and effective approach, we offer different levels of partnership. Each level includes a combination of activities tailored to your company’s goals. This integrated approach generally results in greater visibility compared to individual activities and is offered at a reduced rate.
