In some cases your phone will automatically connect to the network, however sometimes you will need to do it manually.

Here are the correct settings:
  • Network: tue-wpa2
  • Security: Enterprise (80x.1x)
  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Identity: your s-number (s0…)
  • Anonymous identity: leave empty
  • Password: your TU/e-password

It can be really annoying having to set up your VPN everytime you want to check your Outlook at home, here is the solution.

Go to account settings (this differs for different versions of Outlook)

  1. 2007: Extra > Account settings
2010: File > Info tab > Account settings
  2. Selecteer your Exchange account and press 'Change'
  3. Go to 'More settings...'
  4. Choose the tab 'Connection'
Check the box at at 'Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP'
    Click on 'Exchange Proxy Settings'
  5. In adress enter: '

  6. Check both boxes, the HTTP is often the fastest. On theTU/e network you will make a direct connection anyways.
It is important you have 'NTLM Authentication' on
  7. You can now use Outlook whenever internet is available, without VPN!

For those who have an iPhone/Android/Windows Mobile smartphone: You can easily synchronize your email, agenda and contacts with the TU/e Exchange server. You dont need a VPN for this!

Use the following settings:

  • Connection type: Exchange-server of ActiveSync
  • E-mailadres: Your TU/e e-mailadres
  • URL:
  • Username: s0... of TUE\s0... (your s-nummer)
  • Password: Your password
  • Domain: tue
  • SSL Connection: Checked

In Outlook it is easy to create sub-folders in your Inbox. This can help to keep your inbox organized automaticaly, here is how!

  1. Open Outlook op on the TU/e campus or with your VPN running.
  2. Go to Tools > Rules and Alerts:
  3. Choose New Rule:
  4. Now choose what kind of sorting you would like to do. In this example we will put mails from the chairman in a seperate folder.
  5. You can ignore the upper part, click on the blue words at the bottom to select options.
  6. When choosing a person, you have to find this person first, then select and then click "From". You can also enter the emailadress directly.
  7. In a similair way, choose the folder you want to move the mails to.
  8. If everything is OK, you press next. Here you can choose to sort all mails already in your mailbox according to your new criteria.
  9. All mails you recieve will now automatically be moved to the right folder.
